Love for Los Foundation
On the night of May 24, 2025, around 10 p.m., Charlos “Los” Bentley was loading up his truck with his family’s beach gear for a much-anticipated day at San Onofre when tragedy struck. A speeding sedan sideswiped the vehicle, hitting Charlos and leaving him critically injured on the pavement. The driver fled the scene but was later taken into custody and released on bail. His wife, Brooke, heard the crash from inside their home and rushed out to find him, immediately calling 911.
Since then, Charlos has been fighting every day. He suffered severe injuries — including brain bleeds, multiple broken bones, and fluid in his lungs — and remained in a coma for several months.
Charlos was the sole provider for his family, and the road ahead is long. Doctors estimate that even in the best-case scenario, recovery from this kind of trauma will be a long an arduous road.
From this unimaginable moment, something powerful has started to grow: The Love for Los Foundation.
What began as a way to support Charlos and the Bentley family in their time of need is evolving into a community-driven mission — a foundation built on love, unity, and the surf culture that has always embraced each other like family. The Love for Los Foundation is dedicated to walking alongside not only the Bentleys but also other surf families facing sudden, life-changing crises. Through faith, compassion, and collective strength, we aim to bring hope, healing, and practical support when it’s needed most.
LoveForLos Foundation
Born from the overwhelming love and support surrounding Charlos “Los” Bentley, the Love for Los Foundation was created to unite and uplift families within the surf community facing unexpected medical crises, loss, or other life-altering challenges.
While our immediate mission is to support Los and his family throughout a long and difficult recovery journey, our broader vision is to build a lasting foundation that reflects the strength, compassion, and resilience of surf culture, a community that stands together, lifts each other up, and never leaves anyone behind.
Rooted in faith, family, and community, the Love for Los Foundation exists to raise awareness, mobilize support, and provide financial assistance to surf families in need. Through fundraising efforts, community events, prayer, outreach, and acts of service, we believe in the power of people coming together to create meaningful impact.
This is more than a foundation, it’s a movement driven by love, purpose, and the belief that no one should have to navigate hardship alone.
