Day 40 update
Los has settled in well to the new facility (Kindred Hospital, which is a LTACH in Westminster – north OC).
Los has been a bit sleepy and groggy from the meds they needed to give him for the hospital transfer process (main priority of keeping him comfortable and calm during the transfer from Mission to Kindred Westminster). But that should start to soon wear off and allow Los to pick up where he left off at Mission — working on movement, initial leg and arm physical therapy, and getting him off the ventilator and back onto CPAP setting.
Main items to be praying for (boxes Los needs to check to be able to “graduate” to the next specialty neurology-rehab facility):
- For Los to get back to breathing on his own and off the ventilator
- For Los to continue to regain consciousness and fully awaken from his coma
Other prayers continue to be for:
- The continued healing of Los’s other (non-brain) injuries…. Broken jaw / shoulder / ribs / toes and his remaining wounds / cuts / scrapes
- And for Brooke, Chase, and Chloe — for their strength, endurance and confidence in God’s timing
Brooke continues to be at Los’s side and continues to be the solid family rock — inspiring us all to not lose hope, that God’s got this, and God is truly making a way. 🙏
Brooke’s report from last night and this morning is that she has gotten an initial good feeling from the nurses + specialty doctor teams here at this Kindred location. Brooke confirms all is trending very well with the initial screenings they are doing with Los + how diligent they are with monitoring vitals + making sure Los is comfortable.
Let’s all be praying that Los doesn’t miss a beat, and can pick right up again with the miraculous momentum we were all seeing at Mission these past few days 🙏
Visitors are welcomed and encouraged here at Kindred Hospital Westminster. The family is taking shifts — to always have someone here with Los. And the more visitors we can get up here to help break up the day for the family to have mini breaks of fresh air / catch up with familiar faces / etc. would be amazing!
Check in at main entrance front desk to get your daily wristband. Ask for “Charles Bentley, 3rd floor ICU”. Follow signs to ICU entrance, and push button for call access to be let in (Room 7).
Visiting hours are from 10am – 8pm.
2 visitors allowed in a room at a time.
There is a 3rd floor waiting room for any overflow.
And just a heads up… This hospital’s rules are no non-family visitors under age of 14.
The Bentley family loves you all so much! And thanks you all for the continued prayers and support. 🙌
Let’s go, Los! 💪
