Urgent prayer request and update:

We are so grateful for the fast life-saving actions of Brooke, Chloe, Chase and the local San Juan Capistrano Fire Dept 🙏

Los had a food-choking incident during Christmas Eve with the family.  The Fire Dept was there within minutes to take over for Brooke’s after her heimlich maneuver attempts, and they were able to clear his airway and remove the food blockage with forceps (medical pliers)… but not before Los lost consciousness — which required him to be rushed to the hospital via ambulance.   An overnight Christmas Eve stay in the ICU under sedation + with breathing tubes was able to allow Los to recharge and turn the corner into recovery.

It was a scary evening for all involved — especially for Brooke and the kids, who were working to save Los until help arrived + found themselves back at the same ICU  where this tough journey all started 7 months ago.

Thanks to their quick action at home, text alert prayer warriors, and the amazing local Fire Dept response — the doctors are hopeful that Los will be able to be discharged and back home by sometime tomorrow…

It was the last thing the Bentleys expected to be dealing with for their Christmas together as a family.

But the silver lining in it all, and what now appears to be God’s blessing in disguise, is that while using a video to scope and view Los’ throat this morning (to make sure the swelling and blood from the food removal process the night prior was all healed — which praise the Lord it was),  the doctor discovered something else….      Los has tracheal stenosis, a narrowed and retracted trachea (windpipe) which seems to have flared up from his past tracheotomy.   And this now helps explain why Los has been having other recent difficulties with catching his breath during activity, trouble getting food down on occasion, etc.

The good news is that the tracheal stenosis is not an immediate emergency situation.  And that by treating this issue will help Los be able to get better airflow, give him more energy, allow him to eat and drink more efficiently, etc.   Within the next few weeks (once Los rests up from this Christmas ordeal), they would like Los to have a procedure done to widen that throat area out.   Most likely will be something to keep an eye on and treat every few months / annually.

All else looks good.  Los and his family are now at peace.  And they could use your continued prayer for healing and comfort in the weeks ahead.   Thank you all!   🙏

Let’s go, Los!!  💪🙏
