Day 72
Guys, God is good. After weeks and weeks of trying to get the insurance company to accept going to Colorado for the Disorders of Consciousness program at Craig Hospital, today we got a call for acceptance. This means my brother will be on an air ambulance plane within the next 48 hours on his way to one of the best intensive physical therapy centers in the world. This program will take six weeks to six months to finish, but success rates are through the roof, and we couldn’t be more stoked. The prayers worked, God answered, and this is a miracle. Charlos’ current condition has been getting better and better every day. He has a regular sleep schedule. He has been interacting with us more than ever, giving us hand gestures, answering questions, and smiling when he thinks something is funny. My sister was holding his mouth open to try and get him to talk, and she said, “if you want my finger out of your mouth, bite down”. He bit her finger and had the biggest smile on his face, almost like he was laughing. Also, since we lived in the Dominican Republic for eight years, that’s where I was born, Charlos is fluent in Spanish, and when asked to close his eyes in Spanish, he listens.
I’ve been playing music for him, and one thing that blows my mind is that one of his favorite songs to listen to with his kids is called Good Day by Forrest Frank, it’s wild because I never used to listen to this artist, but his son showed me him. He has been my go on Spotify. Then I saw recently that he broke his back while skateboarding and to see God hand on his life and the miracle that just happened to him being completely healed only two weeks later blew my mind. So, I wanted to reach out to him and see if we can get his pro team to join in on our journey. So, if you want this to happen, tag his profile in the comments. His name on Instagram is @HiForest. It would be so cool to combine prayer chains and continue to see God’s miracles happen throughout my brother’s healing journey.
With the ups and downs we have been going through, my whole family is really, really worn out. And to get this amazing news about being able to transfer to Colorado brought our spirits right back up. Almost like God was telling us, why are you even worrying so much? I got you. Los is still breathing on his own. He still has his T-bar trach with oxygen flowing at 28% and no ventilator. His vitals have leveled out, and he is having more movement on his right side, lifting his leg up and moving his toes. Please pray for the travel to Colorado that it goes smoothly. Pray for family housing in Colorado. Pray for his brain to be stitched back together even better than before. And pray for determination for Charlos to get up every day during rehab and get stronger in all aspects. Please keep sharing these videos and spread the word to get this prayer chain even bigger than it already is. My brother needs it. God is living in my chest, and I feel his presence. So thank you all so much. That’s the update. Love you guys.
