Day 66
This is day 66 of Lowe’s being in the hospital and in the phase of semi-consciousness. As you all know, we have been trying to jump through the hoops of insurance for the next step at the intensive rehab. Unfortunately, on Monday, the insurance company got back to us and requested us to do a reapply to all 13 rehabs within California that we already got denied from to double verify before getting pre-authorization for Craig in Colorado. This brought me down a bit, and I was pretty discouraged, but my sister really helped me out by saying that it’s God’s timing on her own. So I’m praying that there is a reason for all this stalling.
So, Los is still breathing on his own. He blinks on command and is slowly getting more function in his right side. His vitals have leveled out, his ammonia levels are good his white blood cell count is stable. Broken ribs, jawbones, eye socket and all lacerations have healed up perfectly.
Comparing how he is now to how he was just a month ago blows my mind. Having stability all day when before his vitals were up and down, storming every few hours and posturing like crazy to reacting with us and listening to stories and conversations from not being able to breathe on his own or open his eyes is wild. God is real, and miracles are happening every day. The experience of being around him right now is personally bittersweet. Seeing him interact, have funny facial expressions, and watch TV, listen to music together is absolutely unreal. But then it feels like he’s back to being aware and almost seems stuck inside his own body. I keep reminding him that he will be able to walk, surf, and talk again, but it’s just going to take some hard work and determination to get him to that place, and that God has his back, and we are here for him every step of the way.
Please pray that the path is clear to get Charlos to Intensive Physical Rehabilitation Center in Colorado. Pray his brain keeps healing. Pray for strength, courage, and positive mindset for Charlos as he is semi-aware of what is going on, and it can definitely get him down. Pray for patience and understanding of God’s timing. It’s still my goal to create the biggest prayer chain ever, so please keep sharing these updates, and let’s spread it across the world. Thank you all so much, and that’s the update. Love you guys.
