Los had a restful night on the ventilator (taking a break from CPAP to recharge and rest up after his big 8hr “lung workout” yesterday). CPAP went back on around 7:30am this morning and still going strong there. Still in coma, but sedation meds (Dex at 0.2 and Fent level are slightly lower than yesterday) and doctors will continue to focus on unassisted breathing today.
Los and the nurses are working through spurts of trach coughing and discomfort (nurses explain its normal reaction to the trach but will require constant monitoring). Once trach and his mouth are suctioned of the saliva backup, his breathing and vitals calm back down and he is able to continue with his his CPAP unassisted breathing, which is good. But prayers needed there, that Los can continue to work through the discomfort. 🙏
White blood cell counts are good, normal. 🙏
RT (respiratory therapist) confirmed the goal is to keep CPAP on all day and hopefully go even longer than the 8hrs Los did yesterday.
Another primary goal and important focus of the medical team today is for the backup in his stomach/digestion to be relieved. Please continue the prayers for Los’ body’s relief on that side of things 🙏
Brooke is in there now with Los 🫶
