A bit of a restless sleep for Los last night as his body looks to be fighting some sort of possible infection (based on white cell count spike, and fever that has been hovering around 101). Doctors have started a general antibiotic as of last night. As of 9:30am his fever started to subside a bit. Please be praying those symptoms continue to settle and stabilize throughout the day today.
Dex had gone back on to help with some neuro-storming / elevated blood pressure and heart rate overnight (Dex currently at 0.2). But vitals started to stabilize this morning again, and they have turned the Dex (sedation med) off again.
Digestion and feeding tube side of things continues to be flowing well. And Oxygen levels are doing good.
Los was only able to get in a 1/2 hr of CPAP yesterday (the lower time on CPAP could be result of body fighting the other infection bug at the moment — and focusing his energy and strength on that at the moment).
Main goal for doctor and nurses today is to get him back and stable on vitals (kick this fever and let the antibiotics do their thing 🙏). In the meantime, the CPAP went back on this morning to see how Los would react — and our dude Los sure is strong and fighting hard…. With everything else he’s pushing through (infection, fever, broken ribs/shoulder/jaw/etc), he’s been going strong and solid on CPAP for 1.5hrs and counting!! Let’s go Los! 💪💪🙏
EEG (brain monitor that records brain activity) went for 6 hrs yesterday. No initial red flags or concerns seen on the screen during the 6hrs of the testing. And this morning, doctor confirmed EEG looks clear for any seizure activity. There will be another final reading later today.
Results of cultures taken yesterday should be ready in next day or so (to help study / find possible cause of white blood cell count spike). Once they receive the cultures back, they will be able to more specifically target any infection with specific antibiotics, but they are broadening their scope of antibiotics in the meantime.
Prayers for today…. for God’s healing power to continue to fill Los with strength to fight through this speed bump of fever and restlessness + for God’s hand to continue to open doors / provide comfort / and help guide Los’ family as they approach and navigate these next goals & steps of Los’ recovery process. 🙏
