Los and fam settling in back at home!
On behalf of Los and his family — thank you all for the continued prayers and support! Los continues to make big strides and is working hard towards a fuller recovery each and every day.
Los and his family have settled back in south Orange County. The community rallied and came together to make some last-minute ADA adjustments to their new spot, and friends and neighbors continue to make sure they are comfortable and settling in smoothly.
Brooke is hard at work dialing Los in with his new local PT sessions, setting up his doctors appt’s, and getting the kiddos back into their local school routine.
At home, Los has been able to get out of the wheelchair for some short, assisted walking sessions (with Brooke and friends spotting him as he re-learns how to walk). He is also getting out of his wheelchair for some supported standing — working on his leg strength and stability. There is still a long road ahead for to regain his mobility and leg strength, but it’s so great to see his motivation and fight as he works through it.
Los has been staying busy with his family and friends — playing board games, using some tools to help put together his daughter Chloe’s furniture, playing catch with his son Chase, getting his toes back in the sand while cheering on Brooke and friends on the volleyball court, and catching up on lost time with his food intake — bulking up on the meals and hydration!
This weekend, Los made it back to church @ Shoreline San Clemente for the first time since the evening of his accident. To see Los back worshipping the Lord alongside his bride Brooke and soaking up the sermon’s message of gratefulness and thanksgiving sure was special. It was a wonderful reminder that God is good, and His faithful love endures forever.
PRAYER REQUESTS
Other than the mobility and walking challenges, some other things to be praying for:
- Short term memory…. Please be praying this can start to come back as Los’s brain continues to heal in the months ahead
- Voice and speech… Please be praying that Los can regain his normal voice and speech, as he is still working through that process after having the tracheotomy tube in during his coma, and currently working through some challenges there
- His right arm…. It is still in a brace and has little movement. Please be praying for rapid healing and progress through PT these next few weeks ahead.
Some praises:
- Los’ smile… brightens up all of our days
- His sense of humor… he’s still got it going strong – that’s for sure :)
- Los’ community… the outpouring has not let up, and it is so encouraging to witness.
- His love for Brooke… and seeing him at his calmest + happiest whenever they are together
