Charlos Update July 4, 2025
July 3 & 4 UPDATE from Los’s dad, Charles: Los is enjoying Fourth of July restfully in his new hospital bed with a normal temperature, no storming, and in good care. Los arrived here Wednesday evening and was bathed & made comfortable right after he arrived. He was resting well when we got to his room. Yesterday, Los rested most of the day after a couple hours of early morning storming. His neurologist ordered an in-room EEG just to ensure there was nothing negative going on with his brain; that will be read later today or on Monday. 🙏 [...]

Day 40 update Los has settled in well to the new facility (Kindred Hospital, which is a LTACH in Westminster - north OC). Los has been a bit sleepy and groggy from the meds they needed to give him for the hospital transfer process (main priority of keeping him comfortable and calm during the transfer from Mission to Kindred Westminster). But that should start to soon wear off and allow Los to pick up where he left off at Mission — working on movement, initial leg and arm physical therapy, and getting him off the ventilator and back onto [...]

Quick PM update follow-up… Los is being transferred to new facility as of 5pm today. 🙌🙏 Just an FYI to those that have been visiting Los at Mission Hospital — that he will no longer be there. More info on the new LTACH location to follow shortly once the family gets the lay of the land and confirms the visiting hours and protocols there. The Bentley family continues to be blown away and so encouraged by all of the prayers and support flowing in from you all. Thank you so much! 🙏 Let’s go, Los! 💪 BIG UPDATES! Day [...]

Day 38 update Los had a great rest of the day yesterday and he is off to an amazing start today! Yesterday had some more purposeful movement with his left hand and arm while Sylvia and Emily (sisters) were in there “bugging” him (as sisters tend to do on occasion 😜). Brooke was with Los as well, and with the help of Brooke’s favorite nurse giving Los some rather loud marching orders, Los responded by opening his eyes for a few moments yesterday evening before he dozed back off. 🙌🙏 Los has a bit of thick mucus he’s coughed [...]

Day 37 update Los had a challenging Sunday morning and early afternoon. He ‘stormed’ a lot and the meds seemed to have little, if any effect on him. Once he was laid flat, his storming subsided and he began to rest. Once resting , the nurses gave him additional meds which kept him asleep for several hours. Once he awoke, Los became active and deliberately tried repeatedly to remove his ‘belly band’ wrap, grab ice packs and sheets. Later in the evening, Los repeated the same activities. He would go, rest and try again as we spoke to him. [...]
