Charlos Update July 9 2025
Day 46 Good morning! Charlos had a tough night of neuro storming with sweating and elevated vitals but no real high fever for which we are thankful! Currently, Los has been resting for the past 3+ hours, sweating has stopped, and his vitals are stable and read well. Our big win yesterday was that Los passed the 72-hour mark of being off his ventilator; they even removed it from his room! He is now at 89 hours ‘ventilator free’ and breathing strong at 28% oxygen which is the lowest setting for this system; we all breathe at 21% oxygen [...]
Charlos Update July 8 2025
Day 45 Aside from his typical early morning, neuro storming event, Charles had another good night last night with his nurse Francis. He is currently settled in very comfortably with healthy vitals. Yesterday afternoon, Charlos was active with his siblings and his sister-in-law, Lyndsay in the room. He was moving his head forward like he done all day and opening his eyes in their direction. He also, for the first time to any of our knowledge, had a great big yawn to the point Timo thought the rubber bands holding his jaw shut we’re going to break! Today’s day [...]
Charlos Update July 7 2025
Day 44 Charlos had a good night with his nurse Frances, she told me he hardly stirred and maintained good vital readings, even though the doctors have reduced the amounts of key medications. Praise the Lord also that his digestive track seems to be working mostly normal now. thank you for your prayers regarding this! Charlos remains calm with little to no neuro storming or posturing through all of his repositioning, bathing, receiving medications, suctioning his trachea, cleaning his mouth, PT, and general care. This shows progress and healing. The physical therapy (PT) team has been working with Los [...]

Day 43 Hey ya’ll, happy Sunday! Charlos had a good, restful night and is very calm this morning with good vitals; very encouraging. Yesterday, the pulmonary doctor had Charlos taken off the CPAP ventilator mode and he is now breathing on his own with an oxygen ‘T-bar bypass’ support system. Basically, he has 40% oxygen passing in front of his trachea while he breathes on his own through his trachea. Currently, he has been off of the ventilator for over 16 hours with no problem; this is also very encouraging because this is a big step in the ventilator [...]
Charlos Update July 5, 2025
Day 42 Charlos is resting peaceful and calm this morning after a good night here with John, his night nurse. John said that Charlos was without fever all night had good bowel movements. We have come to determine, along with the medical team, that Charlos’ Neuro-storming is generally a result of some type of discomfort like constipation, muscle aches, pressure on his right hip or other sensitive areas. Today we expect to go back on the CPAP setting on his ventilator. We’re praying the time on this setting increases beyond yesterday’s eight hours to 12 or more hours today. [...]
