Charlos Update June 05, 2025
8:00 AM Download from the night nurse confirmed another night of rest, stable vitals. The storming from yesterday afternoon (which caused the Dex (sedation med) to have to go back up to 1.3 to settle him down) has subsided. Overnight they were slowly weaning Dex levels, and Los is currently back down to 0.7 on Dex and currently resting comfortably. They will continue that weaning through the day, and study how the other meds help / allow the weaning to continue (lowering fentanyl drip and starting to replace it with morphine doses to see if the morphine can help [...]

8:30am doctor update June 4th Vitals continue to be stable, and overnight they were able to keep slowly weaning Los off the Dex (sedative). The “storming” is still there a bit. But mellow enough to continue to wean off the Dex slowly today — with the main goal to continue to find the right ratios of the weaning of the Dex in conjunction with the meds designed offset/subdue the storming. Doctor update, Tues 6/3 9:30am A good night of rest. Fluid in chest X-ray looking better today. Not much fluid showing on latest chest scan. Doctor was happy with progress there. Vitals are good and are stable this morning. Today will focus on two main goals… Continue to adjust ratios on meds/sedation to find the levels that Los’s body reacts well to, with the goal to continue to try and wake him up… but to ease off the sedation very slowly. Jaw surgery went great! Drs are happy with the result. CT scan from this AM show things unchanged (same “no news is good news” there) Propofol is all the way weaned off, and he is handling that well so far. Lung specialist update- Oxygen levels are looking good. And he has started weaning Los off oxygen as well with lungs looking OK on that side of things. He says this morning that it looks like Los is already triggering a good amount of his own breaths and he wants to start lowering the ventilator support, and having ventilator support [...]

Update 7:40am from nurse (Kevin) Trauma surgeon was in early morning and confirmed everything on that side of things continues to look good. Jaw surgery still on track for 10am today please Pray. Will be wired shut for ~1 month The plan following surgery (later today and into tomorrow) will be to try and wean him off the sedation meds. Propofol is the main one keeping him sedated and they’re going to start with that one a bit to feel it out and see how he reacts. Other than that,… another night of solid rest.
