Charlos Update Aug 05 2025

Day 72 Guys, God is good. After weeks and weeks of trying to get the insurance company to accept going to Colorado for the Disorders of Consciousness program at Craig Hospital, today we got a call for acceptance. This means my brother will be on an air ambulance plane within the next 48 hours on his way to one of the best intensive physical therapy centers in the world. This program will take six weeks to six months to finish, but success rates are through the roof, and we couldn't be more stoked. The prayers worked, God answered, and [...]

Charlos Update Aug 03 2025

Good morning! Please continue to be praying for the insurance roadblock to quickly clear and open up for Charlos and his family. The specialized care facility in Colorado has accepted him and is ready for Los + Los is ready and strong enough to go, but insurance is currently blocking it, trying to keep Los in-state at some non-specialized (cheaper) care facilities. This has been a very tough roller coaster ride and battle for the family (and it is that last thing they need to be worried about right now). So, please be praying that this insurance roadblock and [...]

Day 66 This is day 66 of Lowe's being in the hospital and in the phase of semi-consciousness. As you all know, we have been trying to jump through the hoops of insurance for the next step at the intensive rehab. Unfortunately, on Monday, the insurance company got back to us and requested us to do a reapply to all 13 rehabs within California that we already got denied from to double verify before getting pre-authorization for Craig in Colorado. This brought me down a bit, and I was pretty discouraged, but my sister really helped me out by [...]

Charlos Update July 25 2025

Day 61 Charlos is now semi-conscious, waking and sleeping regularly, showing awareness by making eye contact and responding to simple commands (thumbs up, Shaka sign, blinking). He's breathing independently and meets the criteria for transfer to Craig Hospital in Colorado, pending insurance approval. He's currently using a T-bar trach with 28% oxygen, and his left side is functioning better than his right. Recently, he experienced discomfort due to urinary retention requiring a catheter, which has since been removed. Tomorrow, a device will be attached to his trach to aid in speaking for the first time. Continued prayers are requested [...]

Charlos Update July 19 2025

Day 56 Well, here we are at the 8-week mark since Charlos’s accident and healing/recovery process. It is hard to believe it has been that long but, at the same time, amazing to see his constant progress! Today, Los was wide awake, responsive and ready to go before 6:00am. Wanting to seize the energy and attentiveness, Los and Dad jumped into a physical therapy session. We did a fair amount of work on arms and legs from the top down. He was very responsive and quick to react to commands/requests on his left side while his right side is [...]
